Vertical blinds for a touch of class

The difference between vertical blinds and other blind types is that the vertical variety is upright. Rather than going across the window or door, like Venetian or mini blinds, the blinds hang down in front of it. Of course, it does not make a lot of sense to put a horizontal blind over a door; it would be too much of a hassle to get out. But a vertical blind, hanging in front of a peach tree or sliding glass door, can be a very attractive sight. It is easier to move to the side than a curtain, and controls light much better. A vertical window blind, or a horizontal window blind?

While choosing which type of treatment should go over a door is fairly straight forward, it is not so easy when deciding what should hang across a window. Vertical window blinds are not as common as mini blinds or Venetian blinds, but they can still look very nice. What you need to do is figure out the over all look of the room. Also, you should take in to account the size of the window. A vertical window blind can actually look quite silly on a window that is fairly short or narrow.

You should also decide what type of material you would like your blinds to be. Vinyl is possible, and can be customized very easily in desired colours and styles. Levelor is quite good at providing inexpensive vinyl window treatments. Vertical wood blinds are very nice as well. Wood blinds have a simple elegance about them that cannot be duplicated by vinyl, even if the vinyl looks like wood.
